MTAC MARIN BRANCH NEWSLETTER

President's Message

Hello to all Members! I am your new president of the MTAC Marin Branch. I know that everyone is busy setting up their studios and getting settled for this new school year and hope that your studios are full of eager students. I was hoping that I would be getting lots of calls from parents looking for teachers but there has not been very many calls yet. If you have room in your studio, let me know and I will direct students in your area when I do receive calls.

I would like to first thank Elenor Barcsak for her work as president last year. She was very involved with the MTAC and has been a great help to me as I start my term. I hope I can do as well. I would also like to thank the board for all their help this past year. I am also glad to see some new faces joining our board for this new year. I also want to mention that I will be available for questions or suggestion that might come up.

In Memorium

We lost two of our members this summer.

Robaline Meacham passed away after a long illness. She was a prominent pianist and well-known teacher in the Bay Area. She performed with the San Francisco Symphony. In addition to her achievements as a teacher and performer, she was also considered a most gifted composition student by her teacher, Darius Milhaud, when she was a student at Mills College.

Charles Meacham has also passed away. He was Concertmaster of the Marin Symphony for over 40 years and very respected as both a teacher and performer.

Marin has lost two very fine musicians and long standing members of our Branch.

Teacher To Teacher

It’s almost time to begin the new teaching year!
Are you looking forward to getting back in the swing of teaching?
Could you use some new ideas to energize your studio?
Do you have teaching tips that you want to share?

Whether you are a seasoned teacher or new to the scene, the fall is a great time to meet or reconnect with the many gifted and creative teachers who belong to Marin MTAC. Please join us for “Teacher to Teacher”, an informal gathering with fellow branch members to exchange ideas about teaching. The first session of the school year will be hosted by Marie Carbone at her home in Sausalito on Friday morning, October 2nd, from 9:30-11am.

Please RSVP at mmarguerite@yahoo.com by September 15th.

Friday morning not a good time for you?

Please email Marie at mmarguerite@yahoo.com and let her know a time that works for you. We will schedule future sessions according to the feedback we receive.

SENT FROM AMY LUNDBLAD TO ALL THE MTAC PRESIDENTS TO FORWARD TO THE BRANCH

I am inviting you to our 6th Annual Golandsky Berkeley Seminar and hope that you will print and/or forward this information to your membership. The faculty at the Golandsky Institute is, as you may know, based on the East Coast such that they don’t get to the West Coast often. I feel compelled to get this invitation out to all MTAC branches to reach out to all, but particularly to those who are injured and looking for answers.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT ELENOR BARCSAK
CAME ACROSS AT THE STATE CONVENTION:

A tempo Upgrade Discount

To all Owners of A tempo (Versions 3 and 4):

This summer Jean and I attended 6 State Music Teachers Association
conferences. We gave presentations at four of them and had a booth for
showing A tempo at all of them. Overall, the response was very gratifying,
as well as the comments from owners of A tempo.

Several teachers remarked that they were waiting for their income to pick up
in order to buy A tempo or to upgrade. So, we decided to help out by
offering our "Back-to-Studio Bonanza". The deal is: Until September 30, all
owners of previous versions of A tempo can upgrade to the new Version 4 at
very special prices.

For example, the regular Upgrade Price for owners of Deluxe version 3 is
normally $145.00 (half price off the regular copy). However, until September
30, you can purchase the Version 4 Upgrade (downloaded) for only $110.00 (a
savings of more than 60% off the regular copy price). Similar savings are
available to owners of the Basic, Special and Institute editions.

To see all the special, limited-time prices on the web site, and/or to order
your upgrade, click here: http://atemposoftware.com/UpgPricing_Special.htm

In addition, for any current owner of A tempo who wants to move up to a
higher edition,(for example, from Basic to Deluxe), those prices, too, are
greatly reduced. To see a comparison chart, click here:
